FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Is Bryan a full-time photographer, or is this a part-time job / hobby?
Bryan is a full-time photographer, designer and photography business owner. In fact, other than family events, spending time with his wife, sleeping and eating, it is rare to find him doing anything else.
Does Bryan have a studio?
No. In the current economic environment, Bryan’s focus is on building his business and keeping prices low. Owning and operating a studio is expensive, and studio owners pass those costs off to the customer.
Bryan is now able to bring a portable studio to his client’s home, complete with professional lighting and backdrops. Ask about our in-home studio sessions when you call.
Where can I have my portraits shot?
We use many beautiful locations throughout the Metroplex, and we will work with you to determine the best location for your needs. We can also shoot in your home. Ask about our in-home studio sessions when you call.
What should I wear?
It is best to avoid clothing with bright, fluorescent-like colors. In bright light, these colors reflect off the skin and your images can look terrible. Busy patterns are also not desirable.
Black, white, denim and khaki clothing all photograph well.
Footwear should also be similar for all group participants. One participant in white tennis shoes will stand out from others who are wearing loafers. Bare feet are fine depending on the season and location.
How long will my session last?
Generally, we are having so much fun that we shoot until everybody is too tired to smile anymore. Most sessions last about an hour, but we are pretty flexible.
How many people can participate in my session?
Your session fee covers 4 people of any age. There is a $15 charge for each additional person.
How many images will we get from our photo shoot?
That depends on several factors.
Large groups of people take longer to arrange and relocate from pose to pose, so an hour-long session with a large group will yield fewer images that an hour-long session with a smaller group. Photographers also tend to take more shots of each pose when shooting large groups. This assures that at least one image has everybody smiling and looking at the camera, but it also takes more time and limits the final number of images.
Location also impacts the number of images. If we are shooting your portrait in your living room, there are far fewer opportunities for unique shots than if we were shooting your portrait at a botanical garden.
In general, we try to provide 10 to 15 images from every photo shoot.
Bryan snapped over 100 pictures during our session. Will I receive all 100 pictures?
No. We select the best images from each session, then digitally process those images to correct alignment, exposure, contrast, color saturation, remove background distractions, etc. It is not economically feasible to do this with every image taken during a session.
If there is a pose from your session that you absolutely want to be included in your final selection of images, please make sure Bryan is aware of this during the session.
In general, we try to provide 10 to 15 images from every photo shoot.
How soon after my session will I be able to view my images?
Usually 10 to 14 days. Factors such as time of year and type of session may impact the number of days required. Please be patient with us. Digital processing of images is an artistic effort. It's not unusal for Bryan to set your pictures aside for a few days so he can approach them with a fresh eye.
Will I be able to view my images on-line when they are ready?
Yes. Go to the Clients page to enter the client proofing system. You will be provided a password to access your photos. From the proofing system, you can view your images and order prints and other products. You can share your password with friends and family so they can also view your images.
I don’t like the way I look from certain angles. Can you work around that?
Yes. More than likely, Bryan doesn't see you as harshly as you may see yourself. So please educate him on how you wish to be portrayed, and he will work to make sure you are happy with your images.
Can I have my portrait done with my pet?
Yes. We love pets.
